TARGETED SUPPORTS PROGRAM

When a student struggles with core skills, it’s often due to an underlying skill gap — not lack of effort. Our targeted interventions are built to uncover and close those gaps using the most current evidence-based methodologies available.

We specialize in:

  • Reading Intervention (Science of Reading / UFLI Framework)
    • Phonemic awareness and decoding
    • Vocabulary and fluency development
    • Comprehension and confidence building
  • Math Intervention
    • Diagnostic numeracy screening
    • Targeted practice using conceptual and visual models
    • Foundational number sense and fluency
  • Written Expression & Language Development
    • Sentence structure, grammar, and organization
    • Using The Writing Revolution methodology
  • Executive Function & Learning Strategy Coaching
    • Organization, planning, and study skills
    • Self-monitoring and metacognitive growth

Each plan begins with a diagnostic profile, followed by a personalized intervention map. We use tools like CTOPP, DIBELS, UFLI Diagnostics, Fountas & Pinnell, and Math Interview Assessments to pinpoint needs and guide progress.

TARGETED SUPPORTS ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Our process begins when you attend a free, no obligation phone or Zoom Consultation in which we will listen to your concerns, get to know you and your child’s needs, and get your questions answered. If we feel we can help your child, we will recommend an individualized evaluation and/or records review. If we think your child's needs would be better met elsewhere, we will refer you to someone within our wide network of specialists in the area.

Because we tailor each program to the individual needs of each child, after you have shared your concerns and goals for your child, the next step in the process is an evaluation to assess your child’s cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses. This initial assessment is vital to our process and is used to guide individualized intervention. A Learning Foundations evaluation is NOT focused on labeling or formal diagnosis, but rather on obtaining a measure of a student’s strengths and weaknesses in areas such as basic reading, attention, memory, processing speed, visual and auditory processing, phonological processing, and comprehension. If your child has had testing within the last 12 months, we will review it and advise if further testing is necessary for us to make a recommendation.

Within a week of your child being evaluated, we will schedule a follow-up consultation to share our report with evaluation results and recommendations and to answer any questions you have regarding our process. We’re not fans of technical jargon, so our reports are written with you, the parent in mind. We want you to understand everything and to be able to explain your child's results to teachers, doctors, and anyone else who works with your child. Any recommendation that we make will be based on the individual needs of your child.

After designing a customized program, your child is assigned an experienced specialist to work 1-on-1 in a nurturing, yet challenging environment either at one of our locations or remotely via teleconferencing and screensharing.

All our trainers hold Bachelors or Masters degrees in their fields and have extensive experience working with children and teens with learning challenges. We pair up students and trainers based on complementary personalities to make sure they are the right fit for each other.

Yes, we offer a variety of online courses for students who prefer to learn remotely. Please see our website for more information.

Each program has a start and an end date, and every student is re-evaluated when they finish a program. We compare Pre and Post test data to show you how much your child has progressed as a result of our training programs. After reviewing the results, we provide recommendations for further training programs and exercises to follow up at home.
